A
quick look at some of our past and
present campaigns for children….
Current:
13 year old Billie Jane

In May 2007, Billie Jane was diagnosed with bone cancer, an osteosarcoma in her pelvis.
Chemotherapy was given in the hope that the tumour may be destroyed but sadly this was not the case.
Because of Billie Jane’s poor response to the drugs and the location of the tumour, her surgeon, had no other option but to perform a hindquarter amputation of her right leg and pelvis.
Billie Jane must now face a future with an exceptionally severe disability and although she is hoping that ultimately she may walk short distances with a prosthetic limb, she will be largely dependent on crutches and a wheelchair to get around.
The strain on Billie Jane and her family has been immense and they are all badly in need of a recuperation break.
Billie Jane’s ‘wish’ was a trip to Center Parcs. We have booked a week’s holiday for them at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest village for the 2009 Easter Holidays. We’ll let you know how they get on...

12 Year Old Jessica
![]() |
Jessica was diagnosed with primary bone cancer in 2005. Unfortunately following major surgery and chemotherapy Jess was further diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy – the chemo had damaged the left hand side of her heart. Shortly after this Jess suffered a full stroke. Her heart is now so badly damaged that she is currently on the waiting list for a heart transplant.
We raised £3416.00 for Jessica |

The whole family had a fantastic time and below is some of the feedback we’ve had from them: From Jessica’s Mum: To everyone at Caring Hearts, Thank you so much for your time and consideration to Jess. We had the most fantastic time [at Euro Disney]. Not only did we see Jess constantly smile, but we were together as a family enjoying ourselves. After so many hospitals, doctors and miserable times, it was truly wonderful. x x x From Jessica who is still learning to write and understand words properly since her stroke, but was eager to write something to us herself: Dear Caring Hearts, The holiday was lovely. My best ride was Pirates of the Caribbean. The hotel was brilliant. Thank you so much. Love Jess x x x |

11 Month Old Tiana![]() |
Tiana was
born with a rare complex heart
disease and has required 3
open-heart surgeries to date.
Tiana has her very own web site
which details her recoveries
www.bravetiana.co.uk
- beware it’s addictive reading! Tiana was transferred from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in September 2008 as an emergency admission and |
|
underwent life saving surgery to replace a valve following an infection. During the stay both of Tiana’s parents were resident at GOSH and we donated £500 towards expenses incurred during this time. We look forward to following Tiana’s progress over the coming years. |
